About the Author: "Mick Jennings was born and raised in the Devon village of Merton before joining the Royal Air Force straight from school in 1974. Trained as a Movements Controller, Mick served on numerous UK stations as well overseas postings to Canada, Germany, the Middle East and the Falklands. In 1995 on promotion to Warrant Officer, Mick started his long association with RAF Coltishall. Apart from his primary duties within the Mobility Section, responsible for the deployment of the Jaguar Wing throughout the world, Mick quickly established and managed the Station History Room and became well known throughout East Anglia for his lectures on the history of RAF Coltishall. Hanging up his RAF uniform in 2004, Mick took over the role as the Community Relations and Media Officer at the station, a position he held until March 2007 and during which time he became heavily involved with all the celebrations leading up to the eventual closure of this famous Battle of Britain Fighter Station. With the closure of RAF Coltishall, Mick, together with his wife Ellen and daughter Kimberley, emigrated to Australia where they intend to fully enjoy their retirement in the sun."
